Helping our Veterans
Having a busy morning at work, but just wanted to take a second to spotlight an organization that I’m fortunate enough to get to do some indirect work with, the Fisher House Foundation. Started by New York developer Zach Fisher in 1990, the group builds facilities to house the families of wounded soldiers while the vets are receiving medical treatment. The families are flown to and allowed to stay at the “comfort homes” free of charge and be near their loved one, who, if able, leaves the hospital to be with his family while recovering. The Houses are built and financed largely through private donations.
The Foundation opened their 43rd Fisher House, in Los Angeles, last month. This blog was begun as a way to attempt to raise funds for my education, but there are certainly a lot more worthy and necessary causes out there.
