Whoopi’s “Network” Moment

Michelle Malkin embeds the clip below from that bastion of sober thought and political analysis, The View, featuring the ladies (and I use the term loosely, except, of course, for the lovely Mrs. Hasselbeck) kvetching about bumper stickers, taxes, Obama etc.

Michelle focuses on Whoopi Goldberg going off on “taxes on the wealthy,” and fine, it’s a little refreshing, but I really couldn’t care less what she says. She’s a past-her-prime bad actor. Who cares. My points here are two:

1) God bless Elizabeth Hasselbeck. I don’t know how much she gets paid to sit there with these three self-righteous loudmouths, but it ain’t enough.

2) At about the 2:00 mark, Joy Behar neatly sums up everything that conservatives dislike about Obama, liberalism and the direction our country is heading. She says in defense of Obama: “Already everybody wants (Obama) to solve every problem in the world.” Hasselbeck rightly takes her to task by bringing up the fact that Obama basically promised to do so during the election, but she misses the chance to make a very easy point about the difference between conservatives and liberals, one that we need to be driving home every chance we get.

No, Mr. President, we don’t expect you or the government to solve every problem. We can do that just fine on our own. To borrow from a greater man than I: We just want you to stop making the problems worse!

“Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.”

Chris Matthews – No More Tingles

via Allahpundit at HotAir:

I think this relates back to what Dan Riehl said the other day, with regards to the number of people distancing themselves from the Obama debacle. No matter what you or I think about some of the idiotic things that Chris Matthews or some of the other political talking heads say, these aren’t necessarily dumb people. They’ve gotten to where they are because they’re pretty smart, and they know their stuff.

But it does beg the question: Why were these relatively intelligent people so easily and totally suckered in by Obama while so many other people saw through him from the beginning? Are they just that anxious for approval from their peers in D.C. and New York and L.A.? Are they so needy that they can’t help but toe the popular line? It’s sad.

And now you see one of Obama’s staunchest promoters in the media ripping him apart for basically lying about earmarks, and he doesn’t let up on these two fools. Some of their remarks are as infuriating as Chuckie Schumer’s “People don’t care” idiocy.

The ponces are sitting there arguing that massive spending bills and billions of dollars in earmarks don’t have anything to do with the economy. That cutting wasteful government spending shouldn’t be a priority when you’re trying to stop a recession. Who hires these people? I’m getting very upset today, and it’s such a beautiful day out.

Rush’s Listeners Almost Double

via Dan Spencer at RedState

“According to Talkers Magazine, since the Democrats’ conspiracy was put in motion, Rush’s audience has grown from 14 million to 25 million.”

Not that this was really tough to predict.

A Heated Exchange: Al Gore Confronts His Critic(s)

“I don’t mean to corner you, or maybe I do mean to corner you, but would you be willing to have a debate with me on that point?” asked the polo-shirt wearing Dane.

“I want to be polite to you,” Mr. Gore responded. But, no. “The scientific community has gone through this chapter and verse. We have long since passed the time when we should pretend this is a ‘on the one hand, on the other hand’ issue,” he said. “It’s not a matter of theory or conjecture, for goodness sake,” he added.

As an example, he pointed to a new addition to the budget for the island nation of the Maldives: “Funds to buy a new nation.”

(emphasis mine)

Huh? “An example” of what? For goodness sake, Al, please shut up.

Just a little something to help anyone who, I dunno, feeds their young through regurgitation?

Just a little something to help anyone who, I dunno, feeds their young through regurgitation?

How can anyone possibly take this failure of a man seriously anymore? And has any other single person done more over the past decade to destroy America? I mean, Obama is making a serious run for the title, but he’s got a ways to go to even think about challenging this ridiculous excuse for a man. I’d call for the Nobel committee to rescind his award if I thought a Nobel prize meant anything anymore. But it’s as irrelevant as an Oscar at this point. At least Oscar winners are usually prettier.

Some of the comments are pretty funny – and “Rick from Rye” nails it when he says “The title of this blog is wrong, it should say ‘Al Gore ducks debate, again.’ ”

Why does this coward still have a willing audience?

Jobs Americans Won’t Do

via Drudge – Ohio school gets 700 applicants — for one janitorial job!

Of course, “janitorial job” doesn’t mean what it used to. This one pays about $15/hr plus full benefits. That’s better than a ton of jobs I’ve held down.

I wonder what would happen to our economy and the job market if we started using EVerify everywhere? Do you think, perhaps, that the illegal labor market would start to dry up and some of the welfare recipients in this country would be better able to find decent jobs? Just a thought.

Shameless Music Plug

img_2473a

Oh, and before I head out for the day – went out last night to Sullivan Hall in the Village to see a band called the Meathooks. The lead guitar player is a guy I’ve known since I was in elementary school, don’t really keep in touch, but he’s a great guitarist and the band itself was very good, I thought kind of a little bit harder Sublime. But I’m not a huge Sublime fan at all (except for Same in the End) and yet I really liked the Meathooks’ sound, so maybe that’s not a good comparison. But check ’em out.

It’s Almost 70 Degrees in NYC Today

And as such, it is much too nice to spend any time indoors. Therefore, there’ll be little or no activity here today. Sorry.
